Smug Wisdom

Next month I turn 50. A half a century. Holy cow! You'd expect to wake up in the morning , look in the mirror and be utterly impressed and satisfied with your own sage wisdom and mental impeccability.

But ah! Becoming a sage is elusive ~ and in the true spirit of wisdom you realize how much there is yet to learn and experience. And you now you know that there is no time to waste in doing precisely that!

So perhaps that is what turning 50 is all about - focus and precision. You learn that time, energy, and pursuits...like money...cannot be wasted. You learn that 99% of what you worried about for the last 50 years did not really matter...those were negative, energy sucking thoughts that wafted through your head and contributed to an illusion about life, not truth. You learn that it is more complete to ask what it is ~ in essence to let the purpose of things be revealed to you; in contrast to telling life what it's lessons are through the veil of misplaced judgments. You learn that fear condemns and love forgives. You learn that many of the creeds you crafted for yourself to follow were at times forms of idols; and you learned that creeds that would not let you dance or laugh or revel in life were harmful. You learned to let go...and that ALL of life's experiences created a unique tapestry that truly was a gift.

With my children as my muse, this blog spot is to contextualize the first 50 years, and create clarity, vision, and possibility for the next!
